Healthy Living Speaker & Trainer
Beth has been educating, inspiring, and empowering clients for years with simple, yet powerful, changes that can come from applying her 5 Pillars of Health. She has shared her life-enhancing expertise in a variety of ways in her community. Beth participated in multiple events focused on healthy living; provided seminars and classes to troubled teens; adults in recovery from addiction; senior citizens; youth groups; those who experience suicide ideation and is participating in a pilot program on bringing mindfulness insights and skills to women in a county correctional facility. In addition to being a dynamic speaker and teacher, she is a master gardener, certified Tai Chi Instructor, the deeply loved spouse to Bob, the grateful parent of five adult children, and the proud grandma of two of the cutest grandchildren in the world (and she will arm wrestle anyone who disagrees with her on that one).
Beth grew up in Arizona, had a small stint in California where she met her sweetheart, Bob, and then was blessed to raise her family in Texas for 25 years. While in Texas she survived multiple hurricanes and tropical storms where she helped in a variety of recovery efforts from organizing an emergency response call center, managing the creation of hundreds or hygiene kits, and even stomping through mud and more “mucking out” flooded homes. She now calls Utah “home.”
In Texas, she was on the Board of the Clear Lake Council of Businesswomen for two years and was a 2012 recipient of the Houston Women in Excellence award. Beth is an advocate of lifelong learning and, as a Dale Carnegie team member, assisted in training corporate employees on improving their presentation skills.
If you don’t find her teaching and inspiring, she’ll be enjoying time with her family, hiking, camping, kayaking on a nearby lake, or playing pickleball.
Beth’s mission is to be available when a fellow traveler is ready to learn. She embraces the wise words of Lao Tzu, or Laozi, who was a Chinese philosopher:
“When the student is ready the teacher will appear. When the student is truly ready… The teacher will Disappear.”
What We Offer
At the Great Calm, we are energized as we craft our presentations to include our healthy living expertise along with stories of challenges, growth, humor, and hope. We truly strive to educate, inspire and empower those who attend so that they can envision their best self and move towards that vision.
We provide a variety of seminars that focus on the many aspects of our 5 Pillars of Health. Whether the seminar is for the general public or special groups, we strive to make them engaging and relevant to the efforts of the participants to discover and improve their mental and physical health one simple change at a time.
Our retreats invite participants to take their evolution and personal growth to the next level. Through these retreats they begin to not only discover what a beautiful life they already have, but they also are challenged to look to next steps that will bring deeper fulfillment and joy in their lives.
Tai Chi is our favorite mindfulness practice because all ages and fitness levels can participate and benefit from the medically proven benefits of this gentle but health enhancing movement. What is The Great Calm
We embraced the concept of The Great Calm from an inspired New Testament Bible scripture. By pondering on how an entire sea was stilled, we can also find applications to calm our minds and bodies.
“And he arose and rebuked the wind and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” (Mark 4:39)
Our goal at The Great Calm is to provide you with education on thoughts and actions that may need some changing (possibly rebuking from your life.) Teach you the mental and physical resources that will inspire you to say “Peace be Still” to unhealthy thoughts and actions. Then empower you to choose an ever-evolving way of living these new found insights as you strive to become your best self.
